5 Home Trends We Have Our Eye On in 2023

Each year brings with it a slew of new home trends, some of which become canonized in the world of interior design (think timeless oak flooring or jute rugs), and many of which come and go faster than you can say Jack Robinson. Nevertheless, it takes great foresight to know which trends are here to stay, and which ones already have a foot out the door. But that’s what we’re here for. From eclectic combos to feminine details, here are our five favorite home trends that’ll infuse your space with a sense of personality and panache in 2023.

Rich Deep Colors

Out with monotonous, neutral palettes, in with bold pops of color. This year, you can expect many homeowners to diverge from the usual gray-and-beige aesthetic and opt for funkier, more whimsical hues that spark inspiration and joy. Whether you paint the kitchen cabinets a subtle terracotta or upgrade your sofa to a rich olive green, there are endless ways to elevate your home with color this year.

More Marble

While marble is one of those never-out-of-style design elements, it’s getting bigger and bolder in 2023. The classic Carrara kitchen island will be superseded by dramatic, veined marbles that act as timeless statement pieces, woven with hues of orange, black, green — the list goes on. Not only that, marble will begin to infiltrate home accessories, from chic lamps and trays to mount lighting and coffee tables.

Florals & Femininity

Consider 2023 the year of femininity. In the next 365 days, we’ll see a big uptick in designs that evoke beauty and romance, from cozy blush-colored couches to floral wallpaper in the powder room. Gold will also join the feminine party, seen in everything from timeless Art Deco pieces to statement candlestick holders. It’s always been the year of the woman, but that’ll be especially true in 2023.

Eclectic Combos

Mismatched is the new matching. This year, it’s all about layering a space with an assortment of interior accents from different time periods. That means pairing sleek modern details with worn-in vintage elements, and truly showcasing your personality through eclectic combinations. Start small with mismatched throw pillows, or go big with a unique complementary color combo in the living room.

Soft Edges & Curves

The Mario Bellini sofa craze continues. From arched doorways to wiggly mirrors, soft edges and curves will reign supreme this year, imbuing any living space with warmth and calm. Rooted in biophilic design, this trend evokes an organic nature that’s balanced by bold colors and textures — as evident in those curved velvet couches you keep seeing on your Instagram feed. Striking yet simple, trendy yet perennial, rounded design elements will definitely carry their weight far into the future.
